How to pack

The joke in the islands is: “Bring twice the amount of cash and half the clothes”

Plan on nothing dressier than casual and heels no higher than “tennis shoes”. You really don’t need jewelry, resort wear or “bling” to vacation with us. This is a time to get away from all that. If there is a restaurant in the area or a local yacht club that we will be patronizing, we will let you know before you start packing; otherwise, leave the hair gel, the curling and flat irons and the glam at home.

It’s also important to mention the need to pack your luggage in a soft sided duffel bag. You’ll want to unpack and put the bag away. If you pack in a large hard sided suitcase…you’ll most likely end up sleeping with it.

Most boat owners despise shoes on board as they scratch the surface of the fiberglass and teak decking and generally contribute to a dirtier boat. Don’t be offended when asked to take off your shoes. Embrace it, you’re in the islands now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your Caribbean vacation doesn’t have to be difficult. Here, you’ll find the answers to questions we hear most often.

Don’t hesitate to reach out, we’d love to help plan your dream vacation and take the stress and worry out of trip planning.

Are shorter charter vacations available?

Yes, we offer several options for those looking for a shorter adventure, including:

  • 5 days, 4 nights
  • 6 days, 5 nights
  • 7 days, 6 nights

Give us a call, and we’ll work together to create a vacation that fits your schedule and budget.

What should we bring for our charter?

Swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops are always good choices. Some travelers like to bring a sundress or a nicer pair of shorts/shirt for dining out, but not much else is needed! The joke is: Bring half the clothes and twice the money…

Please pack in a soft-sided/collapsible suitcase that’s easy to stow away in your private cabin.

What should we not bring?

You don’t have to worry about bringing body wash, shampoo, conditioner, reef-safe sunscreen, or beach towels. We’ll provide all of those for you.

Illegal drugs, including marijuana, will not be tolerated.

Can we fish on Southern Charm?

Yes, you can fish on Southern Charm. However, we can also arrange a rendezvous fishing boat to take you deep-sea fishing where you are more likely to catch the bigger fish off the north or south drop (deeper water).

Can we SCUBA dive on Southern Charm?

We love to dive but we aren’t divemasters.  We’re happy to arrange a rendezvous SCUBA excursion for you.

How many people can be included in my trip?

Southern Charm can accommodate up to 6 guests w/ double occupancy, so bring your friends and family along!

What happens if inclement weather occurs when I’m supposed to go on my trip?

If a named storm is predicted in our area before your charter, we will cancel the charter and re-book for a new date. This rarely happens because we do not book charters during Hurricane season.

Travel insurance is always recommended. We’ll tell you the details in your Charter Contract.

If something comes up and I need to cancel my trip, will I receive a refund?

You will only receive a refund if we are able to book another charter for your dates. We’ll explain our refund policy in depth in your Charter contract.

The date I want isn’t available! Is there anything that can be done?

Maybe! Give us a call. We try to be as accommodating as possible while respecting the dates and times booked by other passengers.
